This interactive virtual event aims to foster a direct and open dialogue between the councillors and the public, offering participants the opportunity to gain insights into local governance, policies, and community development initiatives.
Fundraising and Compliance – Feb 13th – 7:15 – 8:30pm
All candidates need to be up-to-date on the strict regulations surrounding the funding of election campaigns. One of the key ‘5 Cs’ – the challenges that women face in running for election is ‘Cash’ – and specifically, how to fund a campaign. This module will look at what a campaign might cost, how it might be funded, tips for fundraising, and the rules and regulations around fundraising.
Managing Your Life (While Managing Your Campaign) -Feb 20th – 7:15 – 8:30pm
Managing Your Life (While Managing Your Campaign)” is a concise and practical training session designed for local candidates. This session focuses on equipping candidates with effective time management, stress reduction, and self-care strategies, allowing them to balance the demands of a political campaign with their personal lives. Participants will gain practical tips to optimise productivity, maintain well-being, and successfully navigate the challenges of simultaneously running a campaign and managing their personal responsibilities.
Framing of Difficult Conversations (Part 1) – Feb 27th – 7:15 – 8:30pm
Candidates often get challenging questions on the doorsteps, in public meetings or on the media. This session will equip women candidates with the skills and confidence necessary to respond to these difficult questions, through understanding the fundamentals of framing and value-based messaging. Training will be delivered by Emily Duffy of Parable Grassroots Communication.
Canvas Clinic on Challenging Conversations (Part 2) – March 12th – 7:15 – 8:30pm
Some conversations while canvassing can be very difficult: the issues can be very challenging; there can be heightened tension about some issues in your community; or the people you meet may be hostile or angry with you, your Party, or about a particular issue. This webinar will help you negotiate those types of situations, to help you engage with the person, to diffuse a difficult situation and to remain safe. Presented by the Hope and Courage Collective.

A concise training session for local candidates. This session focuses on evaluating and optimizing canvassing strategies. Candidates will learn to assess the effectiveness of their door-to-door outreach, refine their messaging, and ensure a positive impact on voter engagement. The training aims to provide candidates with practical insights to enhance the efficiency and impact of their canvassing efforts.
