Intro to Politics – Oct 11th – Pat Montague- 7:15 – 8:30pm –
Have you ever wondered what the difference is between the Dáil and the Seanad? Or how your local council is run and what the role of a local Councillor or TD involves? This session will demystify Irish political systems and structures so you can be informed and up-to-date if you choose to run for election yourself or to work on a campaign.
Social Media 101 – Oct 17th – 7:15 – 8:30pm – Online
This specialised programme aims to empower women with the knowledge and skills to effectively and safely use social media platforms to build profile and engagement, connect with their communities in the context of running for election and to amplify their messages. It recognises the unique challenges women may face in the online space and provides tailored guidance to help them navigate and leverage these platforms to their advantage.
Campaign readiness and Rollout – Oct 18th – 7:15 – 8:30pm – Online
What makes a good election campaign? Get expert advice on this module which examines the anatomy of a political campaign and how to prepare one. This Canvassing Clinic will give top tips on preparing for and organising canvassing, capturing and using canvassing data, picking up and following up on issues and queries, and how to sustain yourself – it’s a marathon, not a sprint!
Funding Your Campaign – Oct 24th – 7:15 – 8:30pm – Online
All candidates need to be up-to-date on the strict regulations surrounding the funding of election campaigns. One of the key ‘5 Cs’ – the challenges that women face in running for election is ‘Cash’ – and specifically, how to fund a campaign. This module will look at what a campaign might cost, how it might be funded, tips for fundraising, and the rules and regulations around fundraising.
Finding Your Why? -Nov 2nd – 7:15 – 8:30pm – Online
Why are you running for election? Why should I vote for you? What will you do for this community? This module gives invaluable advice on how to answer these questions and more. This practical workshop helps you to fine-tune your messaging, and prepares you to be authentic and relevant in interviews, at meetings, and on the doorsteps as you clearly and confidently let people know why it is that they should give you their No.1.
Preparing to be an Elected Councillor – Nov 7th – 7:15 – 8:30pm – Online – Free
For women who have been selected and will be running in the upcoming Local Elections 2024 next June – this session is a must do! It will give you the chance to get the inside scoop on how your Council works; what to do in your first few weeks and months in office; and how to ensure you get the same opportunities and advantages as incumbent Councillors.
Path to Selection & the Election – Nov 8th – 7:15 – 8:30pm – Online
This is the A-Z for women who are on their way to being selected as a candidate or have just been selected. It gives a great insight into the structure, roles and preparation needed for an election campaign at local council level, including campaign strategy, management and planning, selection conventions, running as an independent, anatomy of a campaign, research, numbers clinic and vote management.

Women Belong provides women with encouragement, support and tools to take the next step and run for election. In a safe and encouraging space, hear how to push past the fear and doubts you may have about getting involved in politics, as you share concerns, get expert advice, and the tools to take that next step towards your political career.
Supporting Women’s Campaign – Nov 29th – Gráinne Healy – 7:15 – 8:30pm – Online
Ireland sits at number 101 in the global ranking of female parliamentarians, and we can all have a role in changing this. Recognising that some women will want to learn from being part of an election campaign if they are deciding to run for office themselves, and others would prefer to be involved behind the scenes, this module will equip women to take on leadership roles in a campaign e.g.Director of Elections, Campaign Manager, Canvassing Lead, Volunteer Manager.
