Justin will go through some of the challenges facing candidates campaigning for election including the workload in dealing with constituency problems and dealing with social media. He will discuss how to understand your constituency, set targets and to build a team around you that will support you through the campaign.

About the trainer:

Justin Moran is the head of communications and public affairs with the Irish Wind Energy Association. He previously worked in similar roles with Age Action, EirGrid and Amnesty International.

He started his career with Sinn Féin in advance of the 2002 General Election and worked at a national level on a number of elections and referendums on both sides of the border.

Since leaving employment with the party in 2007 he has continued to work and advise on local and general election campaigns. Most recently, he was one of the canvass organisers for Dublin Central Together for Yes.

Róisín O Hara is an award winning news reporter and presenter. She has worked with RTE for over a decade and has been assigned to various major news stories including general elections, wartorn Kosovo, undocumented Irish in US. She has also worked with TG4 and UTV Ireland as a news reporter and presenter and has had her own weekly current affairs chat show with TG4 for 4 years. In latter years she has worked mainly freelance, and having completed studies in Digital Marketing is now working as a Social Media Manager and Consultant, focusing mainly on video content.

She has been Social Media Manager for Josepha Madigan TD, Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht since April 2018 and also Social Media Manager for An Foras Pátrúnachta – largest patron body of Gaelscoileanna in Ireland for over a year. She is a trained video journalist and mojo (mobile journalist).
